The Australian Government has announced a new Grid Enhancing Technologies (GET) program, offering grants of up to $5 million to businesses and organisations that can help improve the performance of Australia’s electricity grid.

What is the GET Program?
The GET program aims to upgrade and modernise Australia’s electricity network by supporting the trial and adoption of cutting-edge grid technologies.
The government’s goal is to:
- Allow more renewable energy to flow through the current grid, reducing bottlenecks and delays
- Lower energy bills by improving the use of existing infrastructure, instead of building expensive new lines
- Improve the reliability and safety of electricity supply, especially in rural and remote areas
- Reduce the environmental and community impact of new construction by improving what we already have
This program is part of a broader federal commitment to deliver cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable electricity to Australian homes and businesses.
Who Can Apply?
To apply, your organisation must:
- Have an ABN and be registered for GST
- Be non-income tax exempt
- Be one of the following:
- An incorporated entity (e.g. a company)
- A university
- A publicly funded research organisation
- A government body (local, state, territory or federal)
Individuals, unincorporated associations, partnerships, and trusts (without a corporate trustee) are not eligible.
How Much Can You Get?
- Up to $5 million in grant funding per project
- Covers up to 100% of eligible costs
- Total pool of $30 million across 4 years (2025–2029)
