Some Benefits of looking after your super

Retirement Income Streams

Retirement means different things to different people. For some, it’s a definite point in time when work stops, and a new phase of life begins.

For others, retirement may be a gradual process where they vary their working hours as priorities shift, or perhaps leave employment and then return.

Where your retirement income can come from?

  • Your super
  • Investments and savings
  • Government benefits
  • Your business
  • Your home

We offer a range of tax effective, flexible retirement income strategies which cater for different styles of retirement.

Sefl-Managed Super Funds

Self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) are established by investors who seek greater independence in managing their super fund and a more hands-on approach over their choice of investments.

There are a range of benefits in establishing an SMSF:

  • Potential to reduce the costs involved in managing your investments
  • Potential for greater investment choice and control over investment strategies
  • Opportunity to achieve the income you need for retirement
  • Provision for beneficiaries through Estate and Succession Planning
  • The ability to transfer holdings into a generally more tax-effective environment
  • Business owners may be able to buy their own business premises in the SMSF

We specialise in helping you structure your superannuation effectively. Our integrated approach includes:

  • Setting up a suitable super structure such as Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) for you
  • Tax effective structuring for your underlying investments
  • Understanding your retirement plans and the finances you need to achieve them
  • Designing a financial strategy to help you turn your retirement plans into reality

We offer estate and asset protection planning which can provide peace of mind knowing ownership, control and maintenance of assets and cash flow continues to intended beneficiaries in a tax effective and efficient manner in times of disruption.

Insurance and Estate planning

Are you self-employed or a small business owner? Have you ever thought about how the business would survive if you were unable to work for an extended period of time? What about if a key person or partner was to leave or die?

Having a buy/sell agreement in place if you are in partnership or own equity in a business is very important for business owners. The death of a key person or partner could potentially destroy a business or force remaining partners to sell if an agreement is not in place.

Succession planning is about having a strategy in place that will protect your interests and all other parties involved.

We understand small business owners’ needs. Our wealth protection services cover the following:

  • Business Expenses Insurance
  • Key Person Insurance
  • Buy sell agreement

Superannuation, Investment and Cashflow

As you already know, working for yourself means that nobody is contributing to your superannuation and retirement except you. This means you must allocate funds to ensure you will have enough savings for your future. Relying on the sale of your business for retirement is not a comprehensive strategy. You may not be able to sell when you like or the business may not be worth what you are expecting, especially without you as the operator.

Superannuation
Contributing regularly to superannuation not only provides security for your future, it also provides an effective tax strategy as contributions are generally taxed at a lower rate when compared with your personal income.

Investment
A diverse investment portfolio can provide additional income or build towards your retirement goals. Depending on your situation and risk profile, we can advise on a structured portfolio which will meet your needs and give you access to funds when you require it. This is an added benefit when compared to superannuation as withdrawals must comply with a condition of release.

Cashflow
Cash flow and access to funds when income fluctuates is a major consideration for people who are self-employed or small business owners. A plan must be created to identify what is needed for ongoing expenses, what should be done with surplus income, and what options are available for your particular needs.
